Oh yes, very similar. Thanks for the link. Also, how cool is it that FloDesign's CEO is named Stanley Kowalski?

Very fun video; I'd love to work on a project like that. The design reminds me a lot of the FloDesign turbine -- applying an outer guide to increase the flow rate behind the turbine, thus creating a vacuum that accelerates air through the inner tube (thereby increasing the overall energy capture).

It's also seems similar in principle to the Dyson "bladless" fan: http://www.dyson.com/fans/

Very good idea. Maybe the samples given out post midnight could be canned coffee and aspirin?

Hey thanks for tip.

Like this bit from their About Us page: "Unlike other companies that have offered monolithic aerogels for sale in the past, we <strike>manufacture</strike> autofacture our own aerogels. With robots. No joke. Robots that make aerogels. How ’bout that, NASA? Can you do that?"

I you're looking to buy pieces, not granules, of aerogel, the best place to check out is www.buyaerogel.com. They have the widest range of the stuff in stock, and they also carry the blanket and granule form factors.

The music alone makes me want an Automat bun. I'll be in Germany next week - maybe I'll give it a try. No music no buns.

So true--a very relaxing little film. And aside from the missing freeway, that area around the Pier still looks pretty much the same 40 years later.
